Membership is open to both CPAs and non-CPAs in the profession, as well as college students majoring in accounting. Isn’t it about time you made an investment in yourself? Membership Categories

Membership for CPAs

Active Members: Any individual who is a certified public accountant of Pennsylvania or any other state or political subdivision of the United States, or the equivalent thereof of a foreign country or its political subdivision.

Active Educator: Any individual who is a certified public accountant of Pennsylvania or any other state or political subdivision of the United States, or the equivalent thereof of a foreign country or its political subdivision, and is engaged in accounting education on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university.

Nonresident Members: Any individual who is a certified public accountant of Pennsylvania who neither resides nor is employed in Pennsylvania.

Membership for Non-CPAs

Accounting Affiliate: Any individual who has graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting (or a related field). Eligibility is limited to five years after graduation. Learn more about Accounting Affiliate membership.

Candidate for Admission: Any individual who has passed the CPA Exam in Pennsylvania or any other state or political subdivision of the United States, or the equivalent thereof of a foreign country or its political subdivision, but who is in the process of fulfilling the work experience requirement to obtain the CPA license.

Associate: Any individual who is not a CPA and is an owner or professional employee of a licensed CPA firm or sole practitioner. Or, any individual who works under the direct supervision of a PICPA Active member in industry, or government. Associate members must also meet the following criteria:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years experience serving clients in public accounting or internal clients in industry or government and is actively involved in a role supporting CPAs in their professional responsibilities.
  • Must be sponsored by a PICPA Active member and sponsorship must be renewed annually.

Associate Educator: Any individual who is not a CPA and is engaged in accounting education on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university in Pennsylvania. Educators must provide confirmation of college or university affiliation.

Student Affiliate: Any individual enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university and who is majoring in accounting or a related field, or any accounting major enrolled full-time in a graduate program.

* Because of the fee decrease for Accounting Affiliates, dues will remain $25.

Former Members
Applications for reinstatement must be submitted with dues for the year in which reinstatement becomes effective. Members who were terminated for non-payment of dues must add a reinstatement fee of $50 to current dues rate, and may be subject to additional sums due to the Institute at the time of his/her termination. Half year dues rates are available to new PICPA members only.
