E-materials Questions
The PICPA has adopted an electronic materials policy to embrace advances in technology and support our green business pledge. Attendees of PICPA programs will no longer receive printed manuals beginning May 1, 2012.
Q: How do e-materials work?
A: About one week prior to the program, e-materials will be posted online. Download them to a laptop, tablet, or e-reader, or print them. It’s up to you how you choose to view the materials. Access them in My Account.

Q: After I register for a course, how will I know when e-materials are available?
A: E-materials are available one week prior to the course start date. They can be accessed through the My Account section of the website. Please confirm that your PICPA account reflects your current contact information, especially your e-mail address. Make sure e-mails from PICPA are not flagged as junk mail or spam by your company.

Q: Can I bring my laptop to the course?
A: You may bring a laptop, tablet, or e-reader to the course. Please make sure your equipment is fully charged; PICPA will provide electricity on a first-come, first-served basis. Download the materials prior to arrival at the course. Internet access will not be available.

Q: If I lose the e-mail with the e-materials link or do not receive the e-mail, can I access them another way?
A: Access to e-materials is available online in the My Account section of the website. Please make sure your PICPA account reflects your current contact information, especially your e-mail address.

Q: If I register for a course the day before or the day of, can I still get my materials?
A: Access to e-materials is available online in the My Account section of the website. Please make sure your PICPA account reflects your current contact information, especially your e-mail address.
Q: Where can I access my e-materials before or after the course?
A: You can use the e-mail sent about a week prior to the course date or access them through the My Account section of the website.

Q: Are any other course-related documents going to be available electronically?
A: Changes to course evaluations and attendance verification cards have also been implemented to help you keep track of your schedule, monitor your credits, and maintain accurate CPE records.
- Course Evaluations: You will receive a course evaluation via e-mail at the conclusion of the program. Please submit your responses no later than one week after the event. This evaluation will also be available in the My Account section of the website immediately following the course.
- Certificate of Completion: Your certificate of completion (formerly the white attendance verification card) will be available online within two weeks of the program. You can also access your complete CPE history and other documentation in the My Account section of the website.

Q: Can I share these materials with other people?
A: All electronic materials are copyrighted; the materials are exclusively for the use of the registrant and will only appear in your PICPA account.

Q: How do I download course materials to my e-reader?
A: Nook:
- Log in to your PICPA account.
- Click on the Course Materials link towards the top of the screen.
- Click on the pdf link in the File Names column. You will be prompted to either Open, Save, or Cancel. Select the arrow next to Save and Save As.
- Save the file to your computer in a location that you can find easily.
- Plug the USB cord for your Nook into your computer. Your system should recognize your Nook and you should receive a prompt to open the folder.
- Drag the course materials from the folder on your computer into the My Documents folder within the Nook folder.
- Right-click on the Nook folder; select “eject.”
- Turn on your Nook; the materials you transferred will appear.
Kindle:
- Log in to your PICPA account.
- Click on the Course Materials link towards the top of the screen.
- Click on the pdf link in the File Names column. You will be prompted to either Open, Save, or Cancel. Select the arrow next to Save and Save As.
- Save the file to your computer in a location that you can find easily.
- Plug the USB cord for your Kindle into your computer. Your system should recognize your Kindle and you should receive a prompt to open the folder.
- Open the “documents” folder within the Kindle.
- Drag the course materials from the folder on your computer into the “documents” folder within the Kindle.
- Right-click on the Kindle folder; select “eject.”
- Turn on your Kindle; the materials you transferred will appear.
Xoom or Android-based tablet:
Be sure you have the Opera web browser and Adobe Reader on your system. You will need this specific browser to access the materials. You can download Opera and Adobe Reader for free in the Google Play Store or the Android Market.
- Open Opera; log in to your PICPA account.
- Select Course Materials.
- Click on the pdf file and you will be prompted to Save once the Download File screen opens.
- Go to your Adobe Reader which will be either on your desktop or in your Apps tray.
- Open your Adobe Reader and the file(s) should appear.
iPad:
- Go to your web browser, Safari, and log in to your PICPA account.
- Select Course Materials
- Click on the pdf file and the document should open.
- As it is opening select the “Open in…” button on the top right and select iBooks.
- The document should then open in iBooks.

Q: I have clicked on the link to the materials in My Account but the file is not opening. How do I fix this?
A: You must have Adobe Reader to access the course materials. Also, be sure to look for a prompt on or near the bottom of the web browser that has options to either save or open the pdf document. Or some browsers may automatically save it in the downloads folder.

Q: How do I setup a PICPA account to access materials?
A: Click on the "Create an Account" link and enter your e-mail address.

Fill out the form completely, create a temporary password, and click submit. You will receive an e-mail with instructions to login and enter your e-mail address and temporary password in the password field. It is case sensitive. You will be redirected to an update screen to reset your password and enter a password hint question/answer.
