Outside the Lines Leadership Conference

The affirmation “absolutely” was the battle cry at the 2007 Leadership Conference.

More than 170 PICPA volunteers and leaders gathered at the annual Leadership Conference on Sept. 24, 2007 at the Hershey Lodge.  The free event is held each year as a thank you to members who volunteer their time and expertise by serving on a state or chapter committee or leadership position.  This year’s attendees received eight hours of CPE and gained insight into how to better communicate with colleagues and clients.

The conference was lead by innovation guru, Jeff Tobe. Tobe challenged those in attendance to “color outside the lines” and develop a more creative approach to managing their professional life and personal interactions.  One of his most well-received discussions centered on behavioral traits that influence your interaction with others. Using the DiSC Dimensions of Behavior Map, members were able to identify their behavioral strengths and learn how to respond appropriately to others.  Some attendees requested additional information to implement similar training at their organizations. Ed Pfeifer of the Reading Chapter said “Jeff Tobe presented ideas that will help me understand others in my business and personal life.”

First-year attendee, Michael Brown from the Greater Philadelphia Chapter, said that Jeff was a “fantastic speaker!” Daniel Erin, who traveled all the way from Pittsburgh, said the conference “gave a new perspective of the profession and client service.”
