Inaugural CFO Award Luncheon a Success for GP Chapter

PICPA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter gained impressive exposure to the city’s business community as a sponsor of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2008 CFO of the Year Awards July 17.  Matthew D. Melinson, Greater Philadelphia Chapter president, was chosen to present one of the awards at the inaugural event which drew close to 400 attendees and celebrated the region’s best and brightest CFOs.  The chapter's sponsorship was noted on all promotional material, highlighted during the event, and included an advertisement in a special supplement. The chapter members also had an information booth at the event, promoting employee financial education programs and the Feed the Pig campaign.

Deborah A. Bacon, immediate past president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter, served on the six-person judging panel. Award winners were selected based on quantitative examples of how their actions contributed to the organization’s growth or profitability. They also looked for ways in which the CFO’s ideas helped the organization overcome difficulty as well as their commitment to ethics and accountability.

Four PICPA members were selected as award nominees – Lenard Brown, James A. Gillen, Robert H. Lux and Thomas A. Masci Jr. Gillen was chosen as the winner in the Large Company category while Lux was a co-winner in the Large Nonprofit category.  PICPA congratulates all the nominees and winners.
