A Message from President Scott W. Myers

I am honored to be your chapter president for 2007-2008 and I look forward to working with you as we do our part to improve the industry, maintain the profession’s integrity, and further the well-being of our members.  Specifically we will focus on increasing participation in the chapter from member firms, community outreach to promote the CPA brand, and increase our involvement with high school and first-year college students to promote the profession to those that will form the next generation of CPAs.  Furthermore, I wish to continue the successful programs of my predecessors and to maintain fiscal responsibility.

In January, we had a very successful organizational meeting during which many of the officers, executive committee members, and committee chairs participated in goal setting and strategic planning for this year.   I found it to be very beneficial to have the chapter leadership assembled in one place and to be able to listen to and take part in the discussions of what mattered most to each of them as we charted our course for the year.  I am confident that through our collaborative efforts we can accomplish great things.
Be sure to check the PICPA Web site often for upcoming events.  Just a few of the events that we are looking forward to this year are:

  • Western Pennsylvania Tax Conference
  • Emerging CPAs Golf Outing and the Annual Chapter Golf Outing
  • Committee on Lifestyles and Family Issues’ quarterly ABC (Attorneys, Bankers and CPAs) luncheons
  • Accounting Open Forum presented by the Committee on Relations with Schools and Colleges
  • Annual Presents for Patients Campaign

I thank you all for your support, and look forward to an exciting and fun-filled year!  I am extending a personal invitation to you to come out and get involved!  In most cases, committee involvement only requires a few hours of your time during the year.  So, whether you have a particular committee in mind or just wish to help out where needed, please contact me at smyers@tmcpafirm.com.

Sincerely,

Scott W. Myers, CPA
