Author's Guidelines

To prepare an article or column for an upcoming issue of the Pennsylvania CPA Journal, contact the appropriate Editorial Board members.

Features
The features are between 2,000 and 2,500 words and cover current events, news within the profession, and special interest topics. Features appear in each issue to provide in-depth coverage of hot topics and developing issues. Recent topics include trends in electronic payments, international convergence, and the path to CFO.

Columns
One-to-two page columns address specific topic areas, some of which appear in every issue while others appear on a rotating basis. Typically, columns run about 800 words. Eight to 10 columns appear in each issue, providing a brief discussion of specific topic areas.

Author's Checklist

  • Contact the PICPA Publications Team at (215) 496-9272 to discuss potential topics and find out who your column coordinator would be.

  • Submit article or column at required length:

    • Feature Report: No more than 2,500 words
    • Column: No more than 800 words

  • Be sure that your contact, whether it is a column coordinator, staff member, or the Editorial Board Chair, has seen and approved the feature or column before it is sent to the editor.
  • Submit articles as an e-mail attachment to journal@picpa.org.

  • Be sure to include the following on the top left corner of the first page:

    • Name
    • Phone number
    • Fax number
    • Mailing address
    • E-mail address

  • Also include a brief biography (three to four sentences) that includes your job title and place of employment.

  • Feature authors are required to submit a color photo.

  • Contact William Hayes, Managing Editor, at PICPA (journal@picpa.org) or (888) 272-2001 or (267) 675-6254 if you have any questions.

We will accept unsolicited articles, but when articles are sent directly to PICPA they are forwarded to the appropriate coordinators. Coordinators will contact authors if they are interested in using the article. There is absolutely no guarantee as to when the article will be published if it is sent directly to PICPA. For a current list of column coordinators, contact William Hayes, Managing Editor.
