Ask the IRS

In an effort to increase communication between the IRS and Pennsylvania practitioners and to improve upon the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services, the IRS has developed a steering committee to address practitioners' issues and concerns.

PICPA members are asked to submit questions or comments about systemic or burden-reduction issues to the IRS for review. They are specifically looking for feedback from tax practitioners working with small businesses and the self-employed. The purpose of this program is not to communicate individual taxpayer case problems but rather to address the broader causes of the problem.

The PICPA Federal Tax Committee will review all submissions and forward the relevant ones to the PICPA IRS Liaison. The Liaison will then share them with the IRS at their next quarterly meeting. The IRS will determine its level of impact and examine resolution initiatives. Note that not all submissions will be deemed appropriate for review and only a limited number of concerns will be addressed at each meeting. PICPA will keep members informed of the progress of the issues chosen for review.
