Elizabeth Krisher is chairman of Maher Duessel in Pittsburgh. She has worked at Maher Duessel, a western-Pennsylvania-based CPA firm and nationally certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise, for over 30 years in multiple roles. Krisher's main goal as PICPA president is to advocate for the CPA profession, highlight its importance, and improve avenues of entry into the field. "The CPA profession's service to the marketplace - ensuring a thriving economic environment that trades on the right information - is as critical as ever," Krisher says. "We want to open the doors wide to entice all those with the potential to be good accountants to enter the field, develop their skills, and earn their CPA license without unnecessary obstacles."
Krisher wants to highlight the multiple efforts that leaders in the profession are undertaking to solve challenges. Reducing barriers and making the profession more attractive to potential CPAs is more important than ever, and she is emphasizing the need for all members to amplify and protect the profession's status as guardians of valuable, relevant, and accurate financial data.
"My career as a CPA has been extremely fulfilling," Krisher says. "I want those same opportunities and rewards to be enjoyed by many."
