Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999

The Financial Modernization Act of 1999, also known as the Gramm-Leach Bliley (GLB) Act, requires "financial institutions" to make certain disclosures to individual, non-business clients. The Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act of 2006, which was signed into law on October 13, 2006, provides an exemption to the GLB Act for CPAs.

You can find out more about the GLB Act through the Federal Trade Commission.
