Peer Review

Changes to Year-End

Firms should know that the peer review year-end selected will remain in effect for subsequent peer reviews and determine the due dates for those reviews. Specifically, the due date will always be six months after the year-end reviewed. For more information, see due dates.

A firm is allowed to change its peer review year-end on a temporary or permanent basis. Firms are encouraged to select a peer review year-end that is sensible and convenient for the practice. The request for a change in the peer review year-end should be approved by the administering entity prior to the commencement of the review.

Once a firm selects a new year end that is natural for the firm, the year-end should remain the same for subsequent peer reviews unless there is a significant change in the firm's practice.
