Firm-on-Firm Reviews (FOF)

A firm-on-firm review is a review where the firm being reviewed selects the firm to perform the review -- as opposed to a Committee Appointed Review Team where the firm asks PICPA to select reviewers to perform the review. If you decide that you want an FOF review, follow these general steps:

  1. PICPA will mail you a request for information about the reviewing firm. Please complete this form and return it to us as soon as possible.
  2. This information will be entered into our computer. If the review team's qualifications do not match the attributes of the firm being reviewed, a letter will be generated to the firm to be reviewed. At this point, the team's qualifications can be updated or the team must be replaced.
  3. Letters confirming the review arrangements will be sent to the firm being reviewed and the reviewing firm. PICPA must approve the review team prior to the review or the review may not be accepted.

Once the reviewer has been approved, the team captain will contact the firm to plan the review. The review should be scheduled at least eight weeks prior to the review due date. If there is some reason why a review cannot be completed by the due date, a firm must write to the PICPA Peer Review Department stating the problem and requesting an extension.
