Image Enhancement

PICPA’s Newest Financial Literacy Tool Available on DVD and YouTube

PICPA’s CPA Image Enhancement Committee has developed a multimedia tool that members can use as an entertaining illustration of just how much the average person knows, or doesn’t know, about the state of their finances.

Money Talks was created as a fun and informative video about the average person’s financial knowledge, and will serve as a valuable asset to the CPA profession’s ongoing financial literacy efforts. Statistics show that most Americans don’t manage their money very well, and the video provides lighthearted examples of the mistakes and misconceptions many people have about their finances. It is intended to help motivate people to address their own poor saving and spending habits. You can view the video and send to clients and friends on YouTube.

The footage includes several funny, yet insightful, person-on-the-street interviews that were provided by the California Society of CPAs, which recently released its own version of a financial literacy video. Topics covered in the video include credit card debt, budgeting, saving for retirement, and more.

To make the video more Pennsylvania-oriented, PICPA produced inserts with expert advice and commentary from Virgil Kahl, CPA Image Enhancement Committee chair. Philadelphia’s Primitive World Productions, a production company that specializes in helping nonprofits communicate their messages in a cost-efficient and creative manner, produced the clips.

Members can order the DVD through the Speakers Bureau or contact the Communications Team at communications@picpa.org.
