Earn Your CITP Certification

Distinguish Yourself as an Expert in Accounting and IT

The Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential is an AICPA acknowledgement of your experience and training in the information technology field. A CITP helps you differentiate yourself from other CPA and IT professionals by conveying both your financial perspective with the business implications of technology.

Free Webinar

Learn more about earning your CITP certification by participating in a free one hour webinar on April 22 at 12:00 p.m. Hear CITP Credential Committee member Jim Bourke, CPA.CITP discuss the benefits of holding the CITP Credential and how to apply.  To register, or for more details, e-mail Janis Wong at jawong@aicpa.org.

Who qualifies for the CITP?

If 15% or more of your total work house over the past five years were in the technology-related areas that comprise the CITP Body of Knowledge and you have continued your education in these areas via training, conferences, or self-directed learning, you will most likely qualify for the CITP credential. Many applicants have technology certifications and advanced degrees that qualify for points on the application as well. If you have a CISA, you already have the 100 points needed to qualify for CITP.

How do you apply for and earn CITP?

  1. Download and review the two page application to understand how learning and experience points are earned. Consider how many dedicated hours of IT business experiences you have worked and how many credit hours or actual time you’ve dedicated in the lifelong learning categories given over the last five years.

  2. Complete the application and total your points. If you have earned 100 points…

  3. Submit the application along with the program enrollment fee of $350—a $200 savings if you apply by July 31, 2008.

  4. If you have not yet earned 100 points, review the CITP handbook to determine the steps you will take to become a CITP.
