As your professional association, we want you to look to PICPA to help you navigate these difficult times by using the many member resources we offer and by maintaining your contacts and credentials through your membership with us. In response, we have improved our Career Center to address more of your needs. • Free Financial Literacy Education for Your Organization, Clients, or Community

As a result of the roller-coaster economy, many Americans are becoming more interested in financial literacy. Whether they talk about boosting savings, rethinking retirement plans, or making sure the public is taking advantage of the latest tax breaks, PICPA members are engaging companies, college students, and the general public with financial literacy programs.

PICPA makes it easy for members to bring the Money & Life financial literacy program to their workplace or to any other group looking for a presentation that addresses topics such as budgeting, good debt vs. bad debt, and establishing financial priorities. Members can find Speakers Bureau resources - a PICPA member benefit - by looking under the Get Involved tab on this site. In addition to examples of presentations designed specifically for Money & Life programs, members can also find brochures that can be used as handouts or as a reference for presentation topics.

PICPA staff can also help you put together a Money & Life program. Contact the PICPA Communications Team at communications@picpa.org with questions about Money & Life or for help getting started.

  • Include a PICPA Membership or ClassPass in Severance Packages

If the economy forces you to lay off employees at your organization, support them by offering a PICPA membership or ClassPass as part of their severance package so they can stay connected and up-to-date with the CPA profession.

A PICPA membership offers an individual the opportunity to connect with more than 19,000 members statewide through volunteer opportunities, member committees, e-mail discussion groups, state and local chapter events, and member and firm directories. Plus, members can find helpful job-hunting advice, job postings, and other resources and tips for navigating the recession on PICPA’s online Career Center. Offering a ClassPass, which provides a year of unlimited access to over 350 PICPA courses, allows an individual to continue meeting the professional education credits required to maintain their CPA license.

For details about a PICPA membership, visit www.picpa.org/join. For details about PICPA’s ClassPass program, visit www.picpa.org/classpass.
