2007 is a Reporting Year: Are you in Compliance?

The Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy’s reporting period deadline of Dec. 31, 2007, is approaching quickly. If you are in need of additional professional education credits, PICPA can provide you with high-quality education that meets your needs. Finding seminars that align with your interests is easy. Here is a quick reference guide to help you prepare for the deadline:

• The State Board requires, and strictly enforces, a minimum of 20 hours of continuing professional education per year. Every two years, the State Board requires licensees to accrue 80 hours of continuing education, with a minimum of 16 hours in accounting and auditing and eight hours in tax.

• The State Board will mail license renewal applications to all licensees prior to the close of the reporting and licensing period, which now coincide on Dec. 31.

• A listing of courses is available to PICPA Members at “My Membership.” To help you with your documentation, PICPA supplies course attendees with an attendance verification card on the day of the program and issues an annual history letter summarizing each attendees PICPA course information for the year.

• Your CPA license will remain in good standing as long as you meet the CPE requirements by Dec. 31. To keep your record up-to-date, forward your renewal to the State Board upon completion of your CPE. The State Board does not forward renewal reminder notices, so if your address has changed since your license was last renewed, you must notify the State Board.
