PICPA Member Alert – CPE Audit Deadline Extended

The State Board of Accountancy has extended the continuing education audit deadline to May 15, 2008. No formal extension request is required by CPA licensees who have been notified of an audit. The original CPE audit notice by the State Board cited an April 3 deadline.

PICPA contacted the State Board on behalf of practitioners, explaining the increased burden the April 3 deadline placed on members during the busy tax season. Basil Merenda, commissioner, Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs, notified PICPA that the State Board will extend the deadline to “address the issues, problems, and concerns raised by your members and our licensees regarding the CE audit return date and the busy tax season for our licensees.”
