Recent news involving CPAs in the community:

Central

  • Joseph M. Lazore, Du Bois, was appointed to the board of the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Harrisburg Area

  • Dwain M. Smith, Hanover, was named to the board of the Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover and Spring Grove.
  • Craig E. Witmer, St. Thomas, was re-elected chair of the Joy El Ministries board of directors.

Lehigh Valley and Reading Area

  • Aaron B. Wernick, Reading, is a member of the vocational advisory board at Upper Darby High School.
  • Larry A. Wittig, Tamaqua, was tapped to be chair of the Blue Mountain Health System Foundation.

Philadelphia Area

  • Paul J. Bracaglia, Villanova, was appointed treasurer of hireAbility, a nonprofit services organization in Philadelphia.
  • Charles J. Bramley, Media, was named to FASB’s Private Company Financial Reporting Committee.
  • James B. Griffin, Coatesville, was elected chair of First Resource Bank’s board.
  • Scott A. Isdaner, Merion Station, joined the board of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council.
  • William J. O’Donnell III, Norristown, was named to the board of directors of Rose Tree Media School.
  • Douglas J. Pauls, Haddon Heights, N.J., joined the three-member office of the chairman for Commerce Bank N.A.
  • Susanne Spinell Shuster, Philadelphia, was re-elected to The Gershman Y board of directors.
  • Gary S. Weisband, Wynnewood, was appointed treasurer of Ardmore Business Association.
  • The American Society of Women Accountants’ Philadelphia Chapter named Lori L. McKeage, Sewell, N.J., and Renee Ann Cooper, West Chester, to the offices of president and treasurer, respectively. The organization also named Jean M. Rigney, Lansdowne, chair of the student activities committee and a member of the board of directors.

Pittsburgh Area

  • Richard J. Alfera II, Upper Saint Clair, was elected treasurer of the South Hills Chamber of Commerce.
  • Allegheny Tax Society made the following appointments: David Hoffman, president (Pittsburgh); Thomas L. Bakaitus Jr., vice president (Bridgeville); Leonard H. Andrews, treasurer (McKeesport); and Donald S. Johnston, secretary (Wexford).
  • Carlyn Belczyk, Monessen, was elected secretary of Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. and Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.
  • Larry S. Blair, Pittsburgh, was named to the board of Industrial Scientific Corp.
  • Rocco A. D’Angelo, Pittsburgh, joined the board of directors of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
  • Donald W. Ickert, Allison Park, was named treasurer of the American Society of Appraisers’ Pittsburgh Chapter.
  • Robert G. Larko Jr., Pittsburgh, was named chair of Relay for Life Pittsburgh East.
  • Charles R. Modispacher, Pittsburgh, was named chair of the Jefferson Regional Medical Center board of directors.
  • Ronald J. Patrick, New Castle, was chosen to serve out the year as treasurer of Lawrence County via unanimous confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate.
  • Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium re-elected Gary R. Claus, Allison Park, as board chair and elected Edward J. Goncz, Mars, to be treasurer.
  • Joseph T. Senko, Pittsburgh, was elected president of the Mount Lebanon Public Library Board of Trustees.
  • William J. Snyder, Pittsburgh, joined the board of SMC Business Councils.
  • The Pittsburgh Tax Club elected LeRoy L. Metz II and Todd A. Izzo, both from Pittsburgh, as president and secretary/treasurer, respectively, for 2007-2008.
