Erie Residents Honored by PICPA

Charles W. Brown and John H. Guelcher, both certified public accountants, were honored by the Erie Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) with the Joseph E. Sterrett Award.

In addition to the award recognition, a donation of $1,000 will be made in each name to the PICPA Scholarship Fund.

Brown, a past president of PICPA’s Erie Chapter, joined PICPA in 1956.

Guelcher is a partner with K2S CPAs in Erie. He is a past president of PICPA’s Erie Chapter and INPACT Americas, a national association of accounting firms. Guelcher also has served as president of the St. Peter Cathedral’s Association of Parents and Educators.

Sterrett was a PICPA founder and the organization’s first president. Honorees of the award that bears his name are individuals who have made significant contributions to PICPA and the CPA profession.

Founded in 1897, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants is a professional association of more than 19,000 CPAs who work in public accounting, industry, government, and education. PICPA is the second-oldest state CPA organization in the United States. To find a member CPA in your area, visit our Web site at www.picpa.org and click on CPA Locator. Students and educators can visit PICPA's specially designed site www.CPAzone.org to get the latest information about careers in accounting and the CPA profession.
