Hilltown Resident to Lead Local Chapter of PICPA

Other Area CPAs to Serve as Officers of Chapter

PHILADELPHIA – Deborah A. Bacon, a certified public accountant, was elected president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.

Bacon is a senior manager with BDO Seidman LLP in Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and has served in leadership roles for other nonprofit organizations, including Crossing the Finish Line, Network of Victim Assistance, Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, and the Aldie Foundation.

Other 2007-2008 officers elected at PICPA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter annual meeting include the following:
President-Elect – Matthew D. Melinson, CPA, is director of state and local taxes with Smart in Devon, Pa. Melinson also is an adjunct professor in Philadelphia University’s graduate tax program, a member of the Philadelphia Department of Revenue Commissioner’s Advisory Committee, and a past board member of the Pennsylvania Business Privilege and Mercantile Tax Collector’s Association.  Melinson earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from LaSalle University and his master’s degree in taxation from Villanova University. He resides in Ivyland, Pa.
Secretary – Karen C. Facer-Mee, CPA, is president of Facer, Mee & Associates PC in Ivyland, Pa. She is co-director of Council Rock North Girls Volleyball Club and a member of the American Society of Women Accountants. Facer-Mee is a graduate of Temple University and she resides in Ivyland.
Treasurer – Edwin Rosenthol, CPA, is a sole practitioner in Philadelphia, who has concentrated his practice in the area of forensic and litigation services for the past 20 years. He was the founder and first president of the Upper Dublin Education Foundation and past treasurer of the Upper Dublin School Board. Rosenthol resides in Philadelphia.
