The PICPA had a lot to say in 2015. In fact, PICPA’s committees, task forces, professional team members, and multiassociation coalitions have weighed in on more than 20 issues affecting CPAs. Whether you are a tax professional, an auditor, or serve a specialty area, chances are we commented on at least one thing that affects you or your practice. PICPA comment letters reached national and international standard-setting bodies, as well as federal and state legislators.

As we embark on 2016, consider getting involved in just one PICPA activity. As you can see from the above list, opportunities arise on many levels. Traditionally our technical committees commonly prepare comment letters, but if you are involved in the areas that match your interest and passion, you may have input into topics such as the future of the CPA Exam, state and national legislation, or the future of learning. Comment letters are not your thing? There are many other opportunities to plan social events, joint programs with other professional groups, and CPE. Explore the opportunities and sign up on PICPA’s Belong & Engage section of the website. Resolve to pay it forward in 2016 and join other leaders who are working to keep the profession relevant and responsive to evolving issues.
