By Julius C. Green, CPA
The Pennsylvania CPA Foundation was created to address the critical pipeline issues of the profession. Our mission can be summed up in three key areas: introduce and attract students of all ages to the CPA profession, provide resources and support to help new graduates and other professionals achieve the CPA credential, and increase ethnic and racial diversity within our profession.
I am honored to serve as the first chair of the Pennsylvania CPA Foundation, and I am extremely proud of the what we achieved in the first year. We reached more than 8,000 students and educators, provided personal and financial support to prospective CPAs, offered training and education to more than 150 high school and college educators, launched a mentoring program, and presented more than $250,000 in awards and scholarships.
My sincere thanks to our inaugural board, PICPA staff and the more than 1,000 members and firms who supported the Pennsylvania CPA Foundation this past year. Your support is the key to our continued success, so I invite you to join these efforts if you’re not already involved. There are so many ways you can personally make a difference and help a student: you can make a donation, be a mentor, volunteer at a career day, serve on one of the scholarship award or diversity committees, or inspire a high school or middle school classroom by telling your story. If you contributed or volunteered this past year, thank you! If you haven’t had a chance to yet, then check out how to get involved.
