The start of the new membership year is an exciting time at the PICPA, captured well by the story of this year’s chapter annual meetings: A Fresh Year in Bloom. As members gather across the state to renew our PICPA friendships and welcome new leaders, here are a few other ways to make sure your PICPA membership continues to bloom in the year ahead:
- Come out for summer fun: Local chapters are rolling out a full slate of summer events for their members and their families. From baseball games, to water parks, to golf greens, your chapters have brought you many creative ways to help you connect with old friends and meet new colleagues.
- Join a committee: May is the start of a new year for more than 50 PICPA volunteer committees, and it’s not too late to join. Ranging from technical issues to community service, state-level and chapter-level committees enable you to build your network, drive PICPA programming, and develop leadership skills.
- Get a jump on your CPE requirements: Last month the PICPA added more than 1,700 programs to our 2017 course catalog. Some courses are only offered once in 2017, so May is a great time to make plans to determine the skills you want to develop and schedule the courses that can get you there. Be sure to also take advantage of a fresh slate of complimentary CPE that is included in your PICPA membership.
(Pro tip: You always save on continuing education for yourself or your organization through your PICPA course discounts, but members can maximize savings by purchasing a ClassPass before May 26.)
- Download the latest CPA Conversations: Catch up on accounting-related news and hot topics while on the go by listening to PICPA’s CPA Conversations podcast series. We’ve already hit 10,000 downloads! Listen online or search for CPA Conversations in the iTunes or Google Play store.
All this, and the PICPA is just getting started in the 2017 membership year. We have many more exciting new programs and resources rolling out throughout the year.
