Denise L. Sanders, Esq. is a Shareholder in Capehart Scatchard’s Healthcare Group and leads Capehart’s Privacy & Security Group. Ms. Sanders has focused her practice in the areas of healthcare regulatory, transactional, and operational matters for more than 20 years. She has extensive experience advising physicians and other healthcare providers on the multitude of regulatory and compliance requirements affecting healthcare delivery, including practice management issues; licensure and professional board matters; state and federal self-referral, anti-kickback, and fraud and abuse; electronic medical records; telemedicine; collaboration agreements; and government and private payor relations. Her representative clients include individual practitioners, group practices, surgical practices, ambulatory surgery centers, ambulatory care facilities, and providers in the area of urgent care, post-acute care, home care, long-term care, and wellness.

Ms. Sanders has extensively advised healthcare providers and vendors on requirements of HIPAA Privacy and Security and federal and state Data Breach Notification rules. She also advises businesses of all types regarding compliance with federal and state data breach and identity theft laws. Ms. Sanders is the editor of Capehart Scatchard’s “Data Privacy & Security Blog” which focuses on current developments in federal and state laws addressing privacy, security and data breach and how businesses of all types and sizes can address compliance requirements. She is a frequent lecturer and author on health law issues and privacy, security and data breach compliance and response.

Ms. Sanders is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Health Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Health Care Committee of the Southern New Jersey Development Council, and the New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell. She earned her law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law, and her B.A. degree from Wichita State University, and is licensed to practice law in New Jersey.

Sheila M. Mints, Esq. is Co-Chair of Capehart Scatchard’s Health Care Group. Ms. Mints specializes in healthcare transactional matters, including shareholder and employment agreements, purchases and sales of medical practices, including ACO transactions, and practice mergers. She also handles billing audits and government investigations and audits. Ms. Mints acts as general counsel to many large practices and ambulatory care facilities, assisting with transactional, tax, human resource matters and negotiation with payors and vendors. An experienced tax lawyer, Ms. Mints represents her clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the federal Tax Court, and state taxation departments in a variety of tax matters.

A frequent speaker on healthcare topics, Ms. Mints is co-editor of Capehart Scatchard’s “Health Care Blog” which explores matters, cases, and issues relevant to healthcare practitioners.

Ms. Mints is a member of the New Jersey Medical Group Management Association, the New Jersey and New York Bar Associations. She earned her LL.M degree from New York University, her law degree from Brooklyn Law School, and her B.A. degree from New York University. She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
