Ira Pressman had a Ponzi Scheme and was convicted of fraud as a result. A bankruptcy trustee was appointed for his estate and Pressman hired litigators to sue the CPA firm for failing to disclose the fraud via willful blindness. In addition to updates on the case outcome this session will cover professional liability insurance, professional standards, as well as what red flags to look for when working with clients.

In particular, this course will cover:

  • Professional liability insurance company coverage and potential denials
  • Role of professional standards in limited engagements such as tax
  • Return preparations and compiled financial statements
  • Obvious red flags and what happens when they are ignored
  • Doing the right thing vs. keeping the client happy
