Donald W. Kramer

Donald W. Kramer serves as chair of Montgomery McCracken’s Nonprofit practice group.
Don has more than 40 years of experience dealing with the concerns of nonprofit organizations, not only as a lawyer, but also as a teacher, writer, publisher and board member. He has worked with nonprofits of all types and sizes, helping structure startup situations and restructure multiorganizational health and educational systems. He counsels on a wide range of nonprofit corporate structure and governance, private and community foundations, continuing care retirement communities, exempt organization taxation, low-income housing tax credit transactions, real estate, charitable giving and other nonprofit issues.

Don’s representative clients include The Philadelphia Foundation, The Kendal Corporation, Pennswood Village, Central Susquehanna Community Foundation and Woods Services.

Don serves as the editor and publisher of Don Kramer’s Nonprofit Issues®, a national newsletter of “Nonprofit Law You Need to Know,” which he founded in 1989. Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken in 1972, Don served as deputy development coordinator and assistant to the mayor of Philadelphia.

Julius has nearly 30 years of experience working with exempt organizations and is the tax practice leader for his firm's East region. He provides consultation on tax compliance and consulting matters that impact the firm's higher education, not-for-profit, healthcare and senior living clients. Julius has been with Baker Tilly since 2002. Prior to joining the firm, he spent 11 years with two international firms, and 12 years with two universities. He is also the immediate past president of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. (PICPA) 2015-2016.

Laura N. Solomon, Esq.

Laura N. Solomon, Esq. is the founder of Laura Solomon Esq. & Associates, a law firm devoted to the representation of nonprofit, charitable, and other tax-exempt organizations.  She and her associates provide a full range of corporate and tax legal services, including representation for mergers, joint ventures, and complex financings.  Firm clients include public charities and private foundations, museums, hospitals, schools, religious groups, business environmental, animal welfare, and amateur sports organizations, social clubs, and political action committees, and range from small start-up organizations to large health systems and multi-national charities.

 Ms. Solomon is on the Faculty of the Nonprofit Institute of the Philadelphia Bar Institute, and currently serves on the Charitable Organizations Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Tax-Exempt Organizations Subcommittee of the American Bar Association.  She is quoted frequently in the media, and lectures often for lawyers, accountants, and other professional and community groups on nonprofit, corporate, and tax issues.  Ms. Solomon also lectures at the LaSalle University Nonprofit Center, the University of Pennsylvania, and Villanova, Drexel, and Temple Universities.

Jimmy Mo, CPA

Jimmy Mo is a Partner who leads the Not-for-Profit Services Group in Pennsylvania. He has nearly 20 years of auditing experience. Jimmy has extensive experience in the not-for-profit and health care sectors, including (but not limited to) experience with the OMB Uniform Guidance audits, museums, cultural organizations, religious organizations, foundations, research and scientific organizations, voluntary health and welfare organizations, educational institutions, higher education institutions, performing arts, professional associations, trade associations, and social service organizations.

Jimmy serves on several organizations for his professional and personal contributions to the Philadelphia business and local community and is on the Board of Directors of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. He is also a member of the Professional Advisory Council for the Barnes Foundation and on the Board of Advisors for Thomson Reuters, Taxation of Exempts. As an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Jimmy assists in writing and reviewing multiple choice questions and simulations for the AICPA Uniform CPA Examinations. He also volunteers as an auditor for a national community organization overseeing the completion of semi-annual financial audits for approximately 75 local units in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Prior to joining the firm, Jimmy was a Senior Audit Manager at a global accounting firm, specializing in the not-for-profit and health care industries. Prior to that he was a Senior Audit Manager with a Big 4 accounting firm. He also served as an Internal Audit Manager with a national human services organization.

Jimmy is a frequent speaker, presenting on various topics, including auditing, accounting, not-for-profits, and governance. He is a writer and has contributed multiple articles to Thomson Reuters, Taxation of Exempts. Additionally, Jimmy regularly serves as an instructor for the firm.
