Daniel Shumate is a director with FMI Capital Advisors, Inc., FMI
Corporation’s Investment Banking subsidiary. Daniel focuses on mergers and
acquisitions, including both buyer and seller representations, in the utility
transmission and distribution sectors, and business continuity transactions for
construction and engineering companies. He is an associate member of the Power
and Communication Contractors Association, Distribution Contractors Association,
and National Utility Contractors Association where he has contributed both
written articles and industry insight.
Prior to joining FMI, Daniel worked as an associate with Mazzone and
Associates, a middle market investment bank, where he participated in sell-side
advisory, recapitalization, management buyout, and acquisition advisory
services. Prior to Mazzone, he was an analyst for Capital Insight, LLC providing
financial analysis, valuation, and diligence for companies in the Convenience
and Gas Industry.
In addition to his experience in investment banking, Daniel served as a
Captain and pilot of Blackhawk Helicopters for the Tennessee Army National
Guard. In this role, Daniel managed not only the pilot responsibilities, but
also oversaw the maintenance and logistical support for the Blackhawk arm of
both Air Assault and MEDEVAC units.
Daniel holds a bachelor of business administration with honors from Belmont
University in Nashville, TN, where he served as Student Body President. He also
holds a master of business administration and a juris doctorate from the
University of Tennessee. Daniel holds an Investment Banking Representative
license (Series 79) from the SEC and FINRA.
