Understand the basics of investing. Review investing in individual stocks, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, bonds, and undervaluation and overvaluation. Learn how to conduct risk analysis, market analysis, industry and sector analysis, fundamental analysis, and technical analysis, including chart reading techniques.

            Gerald (Chip) Carnes operates an independent financial and investment advisory practice including a research analytics service, and an accounting and tax practice in western Pennsylvania.  He has authored numerous professional development courses, and has been a frequent speaker throughout Pennsylvania and the United States on the topics of financial planning, identifying and solving investment problems, investment planning, investment research and selection, economic analysis, and investment market analytics.  He is a former member of the NASD Board of Arbitrators, and provides expert witness and litigation support in financial cases, as well as acting as a case arbitrator. He is also an accounting and finance professor and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania,  Edinboro, PA.


            Mr. Carnes is a graduate of Penn State University, University Park, Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Operations Research and Management, and a graduate of Gannon University, Erie, Pennsylvania with a Masters Degree In Business Administration.  He is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the Pennsylvania and American Institutes of C.P.A.’s.  He was among the first C.P.A.’s in Pennsylvania to register as an investment advisor with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and the Pennsylvania Securities Commission.  He continues to be a Registered Investment Advisor with the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and FINRA.   He is also a member of the AICPA  Forensic and Valuation Division(CFF), and a member of the Society of Forensic CPA’s(FCPA) with a special interest in securities and financial statement fraud.
