Several large accounting firms participated in the Accounting Firm Challenge in the fall of 2018 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Baker Tilly, BDO, Eisner Amper, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, PwC, and RSM combined to raise $153,319.27. KPMG raised the most money out of the eight teams.
The following PICPA members became “Bright Lights” by individually raising $1,000 or more:
- David Greed, CPA, KPMG
- Wayne Kaplan, CPA, Grant Thornton
- Sophia Keisoglou, CPA, BDO
- Frank Mattei, CPA, KPMG
- Jimmy Mo, CPA, Eisner Amper
- Patrick Mulloy, CPA, RSM
- John Walker, CPA, KPMG
Some firms, like Eisner Amper, held activities to assist in fundraising efforts including painting with a twist night, Bingo, and an NFL survivor pool. In the past, Grant Thornton has held poker nights, bake offs, and 50/50 raffles.
“For the last five years, I have been privileged to lead the LLS Light the Night Accounting Firm Challenge,” said Kaplan. “We have harnessed the “competitiveness” of the City’s accounting firms to come together to fundraise for the LLS mission.”
