PRESS RELEASE

PHILADELPHIA - The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“PICPA”), the statewide accounting association with nearly 20,000 members, is proud to announce the appointment of Matthew Melinson, CPA, as President and David Stonesifer, CPA, as President-elect. Melinson and Stonesifer were installed on May 14th, during the PICPA's 127th annual meeting.

“Matt and Dave are exceptional leaders and advocates for CPAs and the accounting profession across our state, with track records of involvement in a variety of ways that make them well-suited for their new responsibilities at the PICPA,” says Jen Cryder, CPA, MBA, CEO of PICPA. “Their combined expertise and future-focused, innovative mindsets will undoubtedly steer the organization towards new heights, addressing the evolving needs of the accounting profession effectively.”

As president, Melinson will work with the PICPA executive team to effectively drive initiatives aimed at advancing policies and standards for the accounting profession, tackling talent attraction and retention issues and sharing best practices on technology implementation. He will be actively involved in initiatives surrounding CPA licensure, tax legislation and other national issues impacting CPAs across the Keystone State.

Melinson, who is a tax partner at Grant Thornton in Philadelphia, brings a wealth of experience to this role. Prior to his appointment as PICPA president, he served on the PICPA’s Board of Directors and as president of PICPA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter.

"The accounting profession is faced with complex challenges and uncertainties. I look forward to playing a larger role in advocating on behalf of our members for smart, sensible advancements that improve all facets of our profession,” says Melinson. “Working closely with Jen Cryder and the PICPA team, I am excited to continue to serve our members at such a critical time.”

In tandem with Melinson’s appointment, the PICPA has also named David Stonesifer as president-elect. Stonesifer is the CEO at Herbein + Company, based in Reading, PA. Stonesifer is committed to serving his community and has a history of active involvement in professional organizations. He has served on the PA State Board of Accountancy, the board of Greater Reading Young Professionals (GRYP), and as President of the Reading Chapter of PICPA. His extensive experience and dedication to the profession make him a valuable addition to the PICPA leadership team.
