Pursuing a career as a certified public accountant (CPA) is immensely rewarding, but it can also be challenging, especially when it comes to managing the costs of education and CPA Exam preparation. The Pennsylvania CPA Foundation (Foundation), through the generous efforts of PICPA members, offers valuable support to aspiring CPAs with scholarships and financial assistance at every stage of the journey. By investing in future accounting professionals, the Foundation aims to strengthen the profession across Pennsylvania.
The Foundation offers scholarships for high school seniors interested in accounting, college accounting students, and CPA Exam candidates. Our efforts ensure potential CPAs receive the support they need throughout the critical steps of an accounting career.
If you’re a Pennsylvania high school senior planning to major in accounting, you’re eligible for the first tier of Foundation scholarships. In 2024 alone, a total of $20,000 was awarded to talented students preparing to enter the field of accounting. These scholarships provide a financial boost as you transition to college.
For those already pursuing an accounting degree at the collegiate level, the Foundation offers substantial support. In 2024, more than $150,000 in scholarships was awarded to accounting majors across Pennsylvania. College-level scholarships are distributed to students in three general categories:
The Foundation offers several other specialized scholarships to ease the financial burden for aspiring CPAs. The 150 Credit Scholarship helps young professionals cover the cost of completing the additional 30 credits required for CPA licensure. This scholarship is available to Pennsylvania college students with a minimum 3.4 GPA and at least 120 completed credits. For those preparing for the CPA Exam, a $1,000 CPA Exam Scholarship is available to ensure critical support during this crucial step.
Applications for Pennsylvania CPA Foundation scholarships open every January, with winners announced in June. This year, the application process opened on Jan. 8.
