Dr. Kenneth Louie is Director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie and Associate
Professor of Economics in the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend. He
received his B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and his M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Louie’s
areas of teaching and specialization are macroeconomics, international economics, the
economics of labor markets, and the economy of China.
Dr. Louie has provided analysis and commentary on economic issues related to the Erie
economy for the Erie Times-News, CNBC’s Nightly Business Report, CBS News, PBS
Frontline, NPR’s Marketplace, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
