President
Matthew D. Melinson

Matthew Melinson

Grant Thornton LLP | Partner | Philadelphia

Matthew Melinson is responsible for all aspects of state and local tax consulting, planning, and compliance within Grant Thornton. Prior to becoming president, Melinson has served on PICPA’s Board of Directors and as president of PICPA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter, representing nearly 10,000 members. Melinson received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from La Salle University in Philadelphia and his Master of Taxation from Villanova University in Villanova.

Melinson wants to tackle many of the big changes affecting the profession include the declining entry into the profession, declining membership due to demographic shifts, a surge in technological advancements, and changing firm business models, among others. "These are big, big issues that are complex and uncertain. It is like trying to solve enormous puzzles. I love it! And luckily for the PICPA, so does our CEO Jennifer Cryder. The trick is to change your mindset: embrace the challenges and don’t be afraid of them," says Melinson.

Melinson says, "I look forward helping lead our association forward as we work through changes on a scale our profession has never encountered."
