Sean McVey, CPA, PICPA’s 2026-2027 President is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Deloitte LLP. Sean began his career in the audit practice and became a lead client service partner serving both public and private engagements in the greater Philadelphia marketplace where in addition to rendering traditional audit services, he provided insights to clients in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures and initial public offerings. In 2013, Sean was asked to assume a role in Deloitte’s national office within the Risk and Brand Protection team where he provides oversight and analysis of legislative and regulatory activity at a state level to firm leadership.
In this role, Sean meets regularly with the leadership of the state CPA societies across the country, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and the AICPA. With more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, Sean has a vast knowledge of the many challenges facing the accounting profession and promotes initiatives to address such issues. Sean was integral member of the Uniform Accountancy Act Committee that formalized the model language for the new alternative pathway to CPA licensure while maintaining mobility for current practicing CPAs.
In addition to being on the AICPA UAA Committee since 2017, Sean has also served as a board member on the NASBA Center for Public Trust and the University of Delaware Accounting Advisory Board.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Delaware, where he was also the recipient of the 2012 Alumni of the Year Award from the Department of Accounting. Sean and his family reside in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where they are active members of their community.
