  • PICPA Scholarship Fund Challenge

    I am excited to be leading the 2013 PICPA Scholarship Fund campaign, “A Future Behind Every Scholarship.” This year’s ambitious, year-long effort aims at growing the scholarship fund and enabling the PICPA to dramatically increase support for today’s students, who are the future of the accounting profession in Pennsylvania. This is the 75 anniversary of the scholarship fund and our first fundraising campaign in 25 years.

  • Remote-Controlled Business

    Working outside of the office isn’t a new concept for CPAs, but the continuing rapid pace of mobile growth has fostered an explosion in the size and scope of the mobile workforce. A recent survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that almost a quarter of the U.S. workforce did some or all of their work at home in 2013. I recently spent a couple years as part of the rising tide of remote employees, and I quickly learned that there are several challenges that go along with the benefits of working from home.

  • Winning Strategies for Managing an Accounting Practice

    The 21-day Tour de France cycling race covers nearly 2,300 miles through four countries. Along each stage, the teams look at vital indicators and incorporate the findings into their race strategy. Similarly, accounting firms across the country are evaluating their teams this summer by taking part in the 2014 Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) survey.
