CPA-PAC

The CPA-PAC Board of Trustees is a nonpartisan committee responsible for the generation and distribution of funds to state political candidates who support PICPA and the CPA profession. CPA-PAC contributions, in concert with PICPA advocacy efforts, safeguard the future of the profession by providing a voice in the political process. The CPA-PAC is supported solely by the voluntary contributions of members of the PICPA.

Mission

To promote and strive for the improvement of government by encouraging, stimulating, and providing the opportunity for CPAs and others to take a more active role in political and governmental activities that affect the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and its citizenry.

The CPA-PAC plays a critical role in the election of candidates for statewide office limited to the following categories: the Pennsylvania House and Senate; governor, attorney general, auditor general, treasurer; and statewide courts. The CPA-PAC may also disburse funds to caucus committees, political party committees, the ChamberPAC, and state organizations that support PICPA’s legislative priorities.

Board of Trustees

The responsibilities and activities of the CPA-PAC, with the exception of day-to-day administration, are directed by the CPA-PAC Board of Trustees. Trustees are geographically diverse and politically balanced. All trustees must be committed to analyzing candidates and promoting the CPA-PAC. Trustees must be sustaining members of the PICPA and serve without compensation.

General Duties

  • Develop relationships with legislators. Members of the CPA-PAC Board of Trustees should act as representatives of the PAC throughout the state and should inquire about any local support given to legislators.

  • Vet political candidates and determine yearly CPA-PAC contribution levels.

  • Support the CPA-PAC and its annual solicitation process by conducting outreach to firms.

  • Attend fundraisers and events on behalf of the CPA-PAC.

Time Commitment

Meetings of the board take place two to three times annually. Additional meetings may be held via conference call (or in person) at the call of the chair. Action required to be taken at a meeting of the Board of Trustees may occasionally be undertaken via telephone, or electronic or written communication.   Learn more.
